UBUNTU is 'collectivism...'It takes a whole village to raise a child."- Afrikan Proverb

The Afrika I grew up in was never full of selfish and greedy people, no matter which part of the country you visited one would be welcome for a meal at any of their neigbours houses if It happened they were passing by during meal times.

Every adult was like a father and mother in all aspects and also given the same respect even if they were a stranger. I sometimes ask myself where did it all go astray? Why have most choosen to follow a way of life that is actually in conflict with their DNA, that is actually attracting more distruction, division and encouraging 'individualism' rather than 'collectivism', that is attracting greed rather than a nation of shared responsibilities and opportunities?

Africa has always been a collective, have you come across the Afrikan Proverb 'It takes a whole village to raise a child." The aim of a collective is to engineer a system where self-directed peers take responsibility for critical processes and where difficult decisions, such as sorting out priorities, are decided by all participants. Most technocrats were indoctrinated with the notion that extending the power of individuals necessarily diminishes the power of the state, and vice versa. In practice, though, most polities socialize some resources and individualize others. Most free-market economies have socialized education, and even extremely socialized societies allow some private property.

However capitalism which I see as founded from individualism lies in one's moral right to pursue one's own happiness. This pursuit requires a large amount of independence, initiative, and self-responsibility, however what we see in our socio-economic and political enviroments is what could be termed as 'Pseudo Primitive Communism' ... All production in such a type of society is under the direction of an elite few in politics and business circles. The only main individual responsibility exists within a family enviroment, not even voting allows the man in the street to be part of the collective bargaining process.

I'm not sure if any born free's (after 1980) can relate to this kind of culture that we grew up in..what do you think?

“Dont think money does everything or you are going to end up doing everything for money.” -Voltaire
